Hellooo peeps! im after some advice... after riding my zzr600 a few times and getting back on zxr400 today..I have noticed that the throttle grip/twist is very stiff compared to the 600. To the point its hurting my hand after only 5 mins of riding. I have noticed this getting stiffer as the months go by, but not sure why? I did have heated grips fitted well nearly 2 yr ago and wasnt sure if its owt to do with these or summat else?? Or I am only noticing it because of the difference in my bikes? HELP

could be noticing it more due to using the zzr, but worth lubing the cables and the throttle linkage, that means get the tank off and spray some wd40 around the linkage, to lube the cables is a bit more tricky, its best to remove them and you can either use a proper cable lube tool or make a funnel out of some plasticine and hang the cables up and fill with wd40 or some thin oil and let the oil run through the cables.

The spring on my carbs seems really strong making it harder to twist than other bikes lol.
People have commented on how stiff mine is, but i can't really do much about it.

Before dismantling to oil, might be worth just slackening all the adjusters off, to
see if that makes a difference. When the same happened to me, I did in in stages,
slacken it all off, see if it males a difference.
No difference? Disconnect the main and return cables from the throttle, see if the
throttle itself is turning freely.
No difference? Disconnect the cables at the carb ends, and see if the cables
pass freely back and forward.
Worked for me. Found out that one of the cables was snagging within the throttle
and re-routing and greasing fixed it.

dont forget to lube the handle bar too, but dont use grease! Use a little oil. As for stiff springs it can be worth dropping a little oil on them and working the throttle to work it in.

Could it possibly be Flatslide carbs. as the return spring is heavy on them?

you may find it gets clogged up with dirt and oiling it can make it better for a bit but the dirt is still clogged in the cable, if it goes stiff again i would get a new cable, i think they are about £18 each.
