Hi,

Burping at that rpm usally indicates a rich mixture or airleak at the manifold. If I was you, I would run a few tests before going out spending £50 or more on a vacume gauge kit when it could maybe be fixed with a lil gasket sealer at £3.50.

Things to check: Take the airbox off and push the slides right to the top with you finger to make sure they're moving freely. Another 1 is to start the bike and let it warm up to normal temp, then spray a lil carb cleaner at the inlet rubbers where the carbs meet the head. If the bike bogs down or conks out, you have an airleak. This is quite common on the ZXR400's but can easily be fixed at £3.50 with some gasket silicone sealer in between the rubber inlets and the head.

Any problems, let me know.

Regards

Rich
