Hi all,

Just read the PDF file for setting the float hight . They give a measurement of 11mm from carb body, this is impossible :smt013

Or am I being a dumb ass - do I measure from carbbody to top of float when the float arms are just touching the needle pins ?

Hi

Yes, it is 11mm +/- 2mm from the top of the float to the base of the carb. Tilt the carbs almost vertically so the needle valve is just closed, with no load on it.
To adjust the height - bend the tang that the needle mounts on - a little bit at a time !

Incidentally, you can also directly measure the fuel height with a short piece of 3/8" clear polythene tubing fitted to the drain port (I got mine from Halfords) - there is a mark on the side of the carb, and the fuel should be 8mm +/- 1mm below this. Scribe a line on the tube and measure. You don't need the special tool referred to in the manual !

We have had a lot of hassle with a fuel leak from the overflow of one carb (the short pipe between the pairs of carbs) - finally traced to old and tired O-rings on the float jets.
