What do samco hoses do?

Are they just a replacement to add colour, do they weigh less, do they have less flex, do they retain temperature better, or dissapate it faster??

Nothing. Good quality coolant hose is all you need.

Yeah, that. Not saying they aren't good hoses but there is absolutely no benefit over any good quality coolant hose. They may well be cheaper than OEM but you can most likely get perfectly good quality alternatives for cheaper than Samco. The only time it is worth buying OEM is if the section of hose is a particular shape. You may find that trying to replace this with a section of straight aftermarket hose causes a kink.
