Radiator fan switch

Does anybody know if a fan switch would work, or have ever used a radiator fan switch from a zxr 750 or zzr 600 on their own bike?
One of the connectors has been broken off on the L5 model I have not long bought, the part numbers are the same apart from the last 4 digits, zxr 400 one being 27010 1317 and the 750 being 27010 1202.
I have had a chance of a 2nd hand switch from a 750 but don't want to part with the money until I am sure. The thought of parting with £70 for a new one makes me want to spew due to the work I have had to do on the bike so far.
