If you type "oil cooler blanking plate," in the white "Search" box with the magnifying glass at the top right hand corner of the header, then you will find a number of opinions. You can then make your own decision.

What some people do it use one of the oil pipes that go on the oil cooler in place of the oil cooler....

i just had the holes in my sump for the oil cooler welded up. worked fine for a trackday at donnington and 10 races plus quali/testing without exploding. on my old engine i used the original pipes, cut the pipe right down and squashed the ends then welded them, worked ok but welded over looks neater and shouln't corrode like weld will

haha yeah should have been a bit clearer than that :smt005 welding over the holes in the sump (ali welding) looks much neater than having the original steel pipe folded/welded and the welded sump wont corrode like the welded steel pipes will.

not only does it need a clean that is frankly a ludicrous solution to a problem that does not exist

its temporary until i get some blanking plates cut (soon), it allows me to use the bike in the meantime :wanker

could a possible solution be to tap both holes and put bolts straight in with copper washers ie the same idea as the sump plug?
