New Engine fitted, but.....

Post by Fez »

Guys, you probably remember I buggered my engine at the TT. It's an L model and I bought an H model engine with the same mileage, but I have problems as I think the engines are slightly different. There's a pipe that comes from the bottom of the radiator to the water pump, but a smaller pipe runs to the carbs. After that it goes into a plastic tube and I'm not sure where it goes after that. I know Northern Andy has swapped his L engine for an H.

Cheers Guys

Yeah I had an idea that's what they were, but where after the carbs do you plumb the plastic thing into? Should have taken photos!! Photos would be appreciated if available by the way!! :smt001

trouble with the H is the head wasn't tapped to take a nipple in the waterway through it. All I did was plug the extra bit of pipe originally for the heaters with a nail, tightened a jubilee and cablie tied it to something to stop it thrashing about. No difference in performance or ewt without the heaters in circuit.

is the H not very good in cold weather for carb icing then?
I used to suffer terribley with the rs50 and used wynns dry fuel to sort it out. Hopefully I will have the other engine back in come winter.

I'm selling it anyway, need the cash more than I need the bike. Do I need to tell the new owner about the new engine I have fitted?

I dont think anyone would mind tbh. I wouldn't ..

but then the buying decisions and logic of 17 year old punters can be a bit odd.

specially when they so often know nowt about bikes ..

i genraly find younger people get the "i want i want" mind set alot easyer and dont care about little things like that

the people who would get arsesy about that kind of thing are the 30 year olds who just got there licence and dont even no how to change a wheel on there bmw...
