Newbie needs some gearbox advice

Post by Anson400IOW »

Hi all, im new here and have a quick question about a zxr400 gearbox as ive picked one up as a project bike (L1 bike with L9 engine and Loom)

when stationary or even rocking the bike slowly is it unusual to not get 2nd gear?? on other 400s ive owned ive managed to get through the box, at least to say third gear or so whilst staitionary? just need to know before i spend serious money on doing her up then to find gearbox is f**ked!

Any help would be great,

Adam

I don't think I can get into second on mine when stationary or slightly moving. If that helps?

There's nothing wrong with your gearbox. Many Kwaks, including the ZXR, have a thing fitted which prevents you selecting 2nd gear from 1st or neutral unless the bike is moving. This is designed to help you select neutral, you don't have to worry about clicking through into 2nd.
