Heya all! just a couple of questions.... im in the middle of stripping my old ZXR 400 L8 engine and i have got two problems.
n01 - How can i break the oil pan gasket seal to remove the pan? ( i have tryed the rubber mallet aprouch with no luck )
no2 - On the top end where the cam cogs are were the chain goes over the top is a metal plate that looks like some sort of tensioner, anyway to the point there are two allen key bolts that sequre a metal bar with a rubber guide under it and i need thoes two bolts out to remove the cams and chains. I have tryed everything with no luck! can anyone suggest anything to thease problems?
Anything would be a great help!!
(btw i am not looking to adjust any timing etc, just a complete strip down to sell the good parts, if anyone can recomend which parts to keep together or sell individualy that would also be very useful.)
Cheers
Jake

No 1 so long as you have ALL the bolts out the sump should come free with a sharp tap...................hit it a little harder

No 2 the top cam chain guide is held in place with two allen head bolts they should not be that tight only tightened to 12nm I think.............use a good allen key or a allen key scocket and they will come out.

Be careful how you remove the cam caps undo the 10mm head bolts very slowly and evenly allow the caps to lift evenly under valve spring pressure or it will crack/break.

What is wrong with it that you are breaking it...................just fix it.........................
