Airbox mod?

Hello, firstly sorry if this post is in the wrong section.
I've currently got the bike stripped down a wee bit, im fitting a home brew quick shifter for a laugh over the next few days, haha also shift lights! I was wondering if its a good idea to remove the plastic scoop located on top of the airbox under the tank, its rear facing and doesnt appear to do much other than stop things falling directly into the airbox. Hoping that it might give a wee bit more of an induction roar.....Also has anyone linked the air tubes from the front fairing directly into the airbox to replicate a ram air box? Im sure this would do very little but could be worth the attempt, Ive got a friend currently working in a dyno workshop so im thinking of calling a favour and seeing if its worthwhile butchering my airbox. I know that changing the air pressure within the airbox will directly affect the carb slides but i'm looking for a more educated opinion.
Thanks Ross
