Could be saying that to get it sold.
Its strange in that it will run on a bump start but not off the button, which is why i asked how old the battery is. Have you been and taken it for a run since you had it? How does it start then?

Sounds like battery takes a 12v charge but doesn't hold the amperage so the bump start gives it the kick it needs.
New battery time. Left in the bike over winter months can and does kill batteries if they are not used.
MM!
PS. I got a spanking battery that has the same problem - good for running an inspection lamp and thats about it !

mine did a similar thing after i overloaded the gennie with more powerful lamps and heated grips. All it was was a slightly flat battery. I'm not kidding, these like to be at 90%+ charge to start, whilst my old gpz will start after 4 weeks under the snow!
just give the battery a day or two on a good maintenance charger, and i bet it'll fire.

i'v found that the hot start was more a thing of not letting it idle when iv stopped so like pulling up at a petrol station and instantly turning it off or out of balance carbs were my biggy them f******s go out alot
