Hi everyone,

Just wanting some info if poss. After what started as a fantastic day in brilliant sunshine at a track day on Tuesday at Oulton park, me and my little pocket rocket were holding are own and showing some of the bigger bikes a thing or two. On the last lap of the fourth session the engine let go. :smt010

Diagnosis....Conrod bearing failure causing third piston to smash into the spark plug.

I am a reasonable mechanic but when it comes to an engine rebuild I know when I'm needing the experts. Could anyone recommend someone with the knowledge and tools that could give me a quote on a repair if I can get the engine to them. I'm based around Leeds / Wakefield area

any help or advise is most appreciated

regards Matt

You might find it cheaper to buy a 2nd hand unit than to pay someone to repair it, worth a thought maybe?

He builds and races sidecars at the IOM TT.
He has done engine work for me in the past, and is really really toad hot.
Words cant describe how good he is at what he does.
The guy has proper OCD when it comes to bikes, its gotta be perfect :D

I'm takin my zxr to him this week for shims, some 95# jets, and carb clean up.

If you pay him a visit drop my name, Craig, and ask him about a Nut and bolt refurb. He will know what it means :D
