Hey folks sure this is in the wrong section but just wondering what the extra air hoses running to the front of the cylinder block are on the L9
Saw them the other day on a friends and just wondered what there for, extra cooling to the block perhaps?

Re: Question on L9 motor
From what i observed, mine has these extras.
Extra hoses from cylinder 1 & 4 connecting back to the airbox. The two connect through sorta T-junction connector.
On cylinder number 3, the hose that you connect to for carb-balancing, connects to the same t-junction back to the airbox.
And the other hoses on cylinder 1, 2 & 4 are all sealed. Don't know why though.
I reckon all these extras and for some emissions control thingamajig. Sure does make a hell lot of a moan when it's sucking/blowing( i dont know) back to the airbox.
I intend to get rid of it though. :/

Re: Question on L9 motor
from what your describing ... it sounds a little like Suzuki's Pair Valve - down to emissions ... which is surprising being that these bikes (zxr400s) didnt really effect emissions too much ...

have a look at this from another forum i'm on, is it a similar set up?

Are u sure? Emissions were the reason why the zxr is no longer sold in the UK.BigB wrote:from what your describing ... it sounds a little like Suzuki's Pair Valve - down to emissions ... which is surprising being that these bikes (zxr400s) didnt really effect emissions too much ...
