I know you won't be able to diagnose the noise, but I'm asking anyway, literaly suddenly my top end has developed a gut wrenching ticking noise, can a valve snap instantly without any warning? Only got 15000 miles with MOT's to back it up, so I'm pretty sure its genuine, that's the only thing I can think it could be, I know its in cylinder 2 (put a solid screwdriver on the header and listened to the headers and it was only amplified on C2). I'm going to take the rockercover off tomorrow, but Iwould like to have some idea of what to expect before I see it for myself, thanks :)

What welse could it be? Broken valve spring? I can't see a shim jumping out lol, I can't think of what else it could be :s

broken rocker
worn rocker
shim jumped out
collets jumped out
broken spring
broken valve
worn cam lobe
broken cam cap
might even be broken cam chain tensioner
broken tensioner blade
exhaust header blowing

You've got no imagination whatsoever

It was a loose exhaust flange aha, I assumed the worst (pretty standard for zxr owners lol) anyway wouldn't a broken tensioner/anything to do with cam chain affect all the cylinders together rather than exclusively 2 as stated above?

Anyway thanks for the suggestions!

Yes you did but you also suggested cam chain related things which wouldn't affect a single cylinder, but as.I said, thank you for you're help!
