Valves from H and L head

Right this has been confusing me, I bought another cylinder head to use as spares for mine in my engine rebuild but I have a L model engine and the spare Head i'm pretty sure is from a H model. The valves for the H model seemed to work fine in my L model head, I even used It for work for a couple of months before stripping it all down for my streetfighter project. Then last night I looked at a couple exhaust valves from the L head and the H head to compare and they are different. One looks like it has a higher head of the valve. Plus all my L model inlet valves had X4 on the bottom but the H ones didn't.

If anyone could tell me why this is and if they know of or have experienced any problems with using valves from the H and l model together it would be great. Thanks people.
