Gear box clonk!

Post by Jonjo »

Hi all,

My gearbox has become a bit noisey lately when changing gears, down in to first there is the usual clonk, when on the move it also clonks into 2nd 3rd and 4th. 5th and 6th are smooth with no noise.

Had new chain and sprockets recently, tension on those is fine. Changed oil and filter yesterday but it's still clonky.

Is something about to explode?

In all honesty, I have no idea.
Will have to have a look how I check that, presume it's simple?

I can do routine maintenance including rebuilding calipers so happy to sit and read/learn more!

It's behind you!!!!!
Cush drive, see if your sprocket is moving by hand.
Easy fix, about £40 from your local Kwak shop.

The suspense is killing me here.

Just done mine, does indeed make a difference, much more positive, and as you say is an easy, almost enjoyable fix.
I take literally no credit for spotting mine though, the Scrutineering Barista gets all that.
Does the low seat height reflect the low intelligence? Easier to get an asshole onto.
