Engine rebuild

Post by Kevin Steele »

:smt006 Hi, just picked up a project from deepest darkest Norfolk :smt015 , I want to totally rebuild this neglected baby, can anybody suggest an engine builder, and indeed a blog or similar to follow in restoring this little beauty to her former glory please.

budget £700 for a complete full engine rebuild, thats all gaskets, o rings, seals, rings, clutch plates, springs, valve seals, chains etc...plus labour/transportation/damaged parts.

Thanks for the responses there, I am based near Rochester in Kent, so please can anybody advise of somebody worthy in this area ?? the motor does run, and to be honest sounds quite sweet, however it is leaking some fluid from somewhere, but only a dribble, I think the bike has covered about 38.000 miles ? so naturally as a totally unknown quantity, I would like it checked over, and get done whatever is needed, and maybe good be updated ?? thanks :smt003

if its leaking oil its probably shift shaft seal or gearbox oil seal that has gone, shouldnt require a full stripdown, just splitting the bottom end would do it
