Changing the rockers?

Post by Tinman »

Easy job for the DIY? Mechanic or something I should leave for a professional?

It isn't too challenging, however you will need some mechanical ability or knowledge!

What jobs have you previously done on an engine? You need to be able to either drop the engine out, or get the head off with it in the frame, and remove the rocker plug on the side. Obviously to get to this stage, you need to remove the side fairings, tank, airbox, carbs, exhaust headers to name a few! The full description for once you have the engine out is here: http://www.zxrworld.co.uk/Manuals/H%20M ... er%204.pdf

Good luck

exhaust rockers can be changed without even moving the engine if i remember correctly, intakes you definitely have to rotate or drop the engine as the bolt is obscured by the frame.
