Engine identification

Anyone know where I can confirm engine identification off an engine number alone ?
Waiting for Kawasaki UK technical to get back to me but someone may know another way. Trying to order parts for a ZXR400 engine but want to confirm what it is and what model before I spend.
Had several people with conflicting info, L sp, H sp, L9.
