Hi, need a little help.

I have just brought a ZXR400 89 plate. The problem with it that it won't tick over on low rev's, if you try to rev it when at 1000rpm it just dies. If it's on choke and you're over 2000 -3000rpm it revs fine. I have checked the engine and this is fine, the carb is clean and working fine and fuel is getting in ok. The sparks from the plugs seam weak, so I think it's something electrical, maybe coils faulty?? Any ideas??

if your sparks are weak i would change the plugs, check your battery and earth leads, then change your HT leads, you can check these by changing 1 lead and see if the spark improves then try it on all 4 leads.Alot of firing problems are down to the battery.Got any pics of it then?

I have checked the plugs and leads and they are all good. The battery is a brand spanker and I cleaned the engine earth strap (top & bottom) right up the other day. Seriously scratching my nonce. I just read someone else's post and they sound like they had a similar problem, which was the pick up coil, does this sound possible? :smt017

Pictures will be posted shortly.

Itching to get on the road! :

Fuel pump is all good.

I'm convinced it's electrical.

Im outa ideas, dunno how you check the pickup tho, woulda thought that would cause problems right the way through the rev range.
