Ello people just after a bit of info really...as im sure you're all aware the ZXR's are pretty common for that horrible noise they sometimes make on idle...but what is it does anyone know? i have asked various people and they all say different things which is very helpful! lol...some say cam chain tentioners some say cam chain itself, some say clutch plates others say clutch baskets!...i've noticed they only seem to start doing it after about 11,000 miles so its obviously something that can be replaced but i dont fancy spending out on a full engine re-build just to find out what it is! lol, so yeah if anyone has managed to sort theirs out let me know please! cheers!! Its just noisy parts in general i think, party clutch and partly top end. If you pull the clutch in and out you will hear the noise change.
My friend had a ZXR that only had a few thousand miles on it but the clutch was the noisest id ever heard. He got it changed under warranty which helped for a little while and just for it to return a few hundred miles later.
I wouldnt worry about them, everyone else will say the same, unless of course it is making a right old noise then there is probably something more serious to worry about. Valve clearances will obviously make a big difference if they need doing, and i believe its the clutch plates that make the noise, cos of the wear on the basket.

Just to add, that is normal on ZXR.

Boosh!
My 400 has a clutch rattle that drowns out it's scorpion system.
Kwak engines are not for people who get paranoid about engine noises
My 750 J doesnt have a clutch rattle, but the noises the engine makes vary between knocking, tapping, hissing, clicking and some others i cant describe yet the things healthy as fook. kawasaki dont make bikes that are designed to sound nice idling while you pose next to it.

lol ok mate well cheers for that...mine isnt quite that bad so i think i'll look out for a nice Beet race system to drown out the noise of my engine for now...so if anyone has one and fancies selling it unlikely as that is...let me know!
