Right bit confused here, I put a new chain and sprocket kit on at the weekend and now I am having trouble changing gear, it won't short shift as in I can only change up if I am revving it and it seems to have a longer movement between 1-N-2 meaning that when I pull away I am often find neutral instead of second. It also popped in to a false neutral last night which it has never done before.
Please someone, can you tell me what I have done.
Cheers Mike.

Re: Gearbox has gone funny!!
sounds like your chain is to tight (or possibly lose), find the tightest point in the chain and see how much movment you've got

have you put the linkage back on the same position?

Already loosened the chain, it has about an inch of play in to. I have just thought could it be that the front sprocket is bolted on too tight?

Re: Gearbox has gone funny!!
it dosent bolt on as such the coler stops it from falling off
you shouldnt need to play with the linkage if you've only changed the c&s

Re: Gearbox has gone funny!!
you have to remove the linkage to get the front sprocket cover off, if you don't put it back right it'll cause problems changing gear.

Re: Gearbox has gone funny!!
This is a worry i have, when I took the clamp (that the rod from the lever attaches too) that goes around the gear selector spinlde off I didn't mark it (doh) however there is one position, which is basically pointing straight down, where it is a lot easier to taken on and off so I assumed this was the original position.

Re: Gearbox has gone funny!!
Have a fiddle with the gear lever position id say and see how you go. Ive only ever had those problems where I dont lift the lever enough, i lowered it and it was fine.
