clutch slip

Post by R P Corse »

was out the other day for a decent rude, got into 5th and as i revved it past 9000rpm it started to slip quite bad... however it only seems to have done this when the bike is warmed up.

changing the oil tomorrow - its about 2000miles late (bad i know but haven't got round to doing it) will old oil cause clutch slip like that to happen? - how long do the clutch friction plates and plain plates last on average?

i was thinking actually mate, your clutch is actually ridiculously light which could be that the springs have weakened? so maybe if the springs arent pushing the plates together hard enough then it will slip?

but also, judging by the way that you pulled away today i wouldnt be surprised if your friction plates are shagged :smt003

The clutch shouldn't feel light, it's quite strong. So if it does then it looks like you need fresh springs. Easy job.
