clutch cable setup

Post by TheG »

having difficulty with my clutch cable cant belive im struggling with this,

I installed a new cable as the old one has had it and it seems as though the new cable is too big, With both adjusters at the clutch and handlebar lever i only just get a ok clutch freeplay, could still do with being tighter

here are some pics can someone confirm the cable is set right by the engine ?

I am sorry if i am posting a lot of stupid questions but my bike has been in peices for 4 months and i am really trying to get it setup properly

Thanks

iv ordered the l model cable but still the cable i originnaly bought was for 1989-2003 so im not even sure the kawasaki cable will work but hoping it will as this is the only thing keeping me of the road

the clutch worked fine before i took the engine out but havent touched the clutch, not using the original cable as its so stiff i need molegrips to move the cable

It's down to the adjustment, my H cable appeared to be way too long when I bought it, adjust it from the bottom first and then adjust from the top accordingly, take out for test ride to make sure its ok

This is what I had to do on mine

I still think mine is far too long but it's been good for a year!

where did you buy the incorrect cable from, was it from cradleys originally?

kawasaki cable has arrived set it up and its fine, so the other cable i bought was wrong

last thing i need to check before riding is that the cover for the oil sensor is on correct

Image

It looks as though it needs to be pushed on further can anyone confirm this ? I tried giving it a push but it doesent seem to move

thanks

really need help went to go out on bike and it jumps forward and stalls, its not my new cable the freeplay is fine.

google says my clutch has seized as i havent used the bike in 4 months, its got fresh oil in and new filter.

iv tried putting the bike in gear with the engine off and pulled the clutch lever in moving the bike back and forth and i can feel some resistance

i have cable tied the clutch lever so the clutch is pulled in to see if that helps, any suggestions on what to try ? thanks

Does it jump forward when you put it in gear? is the side stand down? And is the side stand switch clean and moves freely?
