Clutch problems.
Hi guys
Im new to this website and im looking for some help.
Im am planning on buying a zxr 400 D reg but it has one problem, the owner says it needs a "clutch pin".
Has anyone ever heard of one?
I am a mechanic but on buses and coaches and ive never heard of it.
If you have, where is it and what sort of job is it to replace it?
Thanks,
Paul.

never heard of that part on any bike, probaly just under different terminology. However zxr engine parts are cheap and easy to come by. Im on the wirral myself - if thats what your name implies.

Re: Clutch problems.
He's probably referring to the clutch actuation rod ..
If thats bent you're probably looking at a mullered basket as well - I would walk away unless I could jack it up and pop the clutch cover and have a good butchers for myself.
Failing that I think you're looking at £100-150 off the price to fix any issues.

Re: Clutch problems.
It has GPZ written on it mate.
Thats a 500 p-twin.
Couldn't be more different to a ZXR 400.
My first bike in fact ..
Never seen one that old tho! Mine was a J reg.

BTW yes, I would run a mile. It looks like a right shed.
The GPZ is a great bike, but you'd want a late 90's model and the S version (aka GPZ500s) is light years better ..
They're solid, comfy, torquey and cheap as fook since nobody wants them.
Sportsbikes they aint tho.
They also suffer from being budget bikes; every fastener and screw on a GPZ of that age will be rotten. PITA to sort when you first get one ..
They are very cheap, solid commuter bikes and I personally loved mine.
Its not a ZXR400 tho, not even in a blurred photo.
