Speedo stopped, cable ok, is it the wheel?

Post by BikerJake2010 »

Hi all, just had my speedo stop working on me, just recently replaced the old speedo cable with a new one as the old one snaped :smt012 .. I had a weird squeeky sound from the front wheel when around the 0-15mph speed (15mph+ engine drowns out the sound), this has conveniantly stoped when the speedo stoped.....The cable is fine, i can rotate it from the bottom or top and it moves fine, when i refit it in its place its all good and should work but its not :smt012 Could it be the conection at the wheel, or possibly the speedo itself?
cheers.

speedo drive has gone mate. that whole bit that the cable goes into comes off (remove wheel). Get a replacement one, I know AMS does them or maybe some of the breakers on here. Shouldn't be more than about £20-£25

calipers off and strapped out of way, undo pinch bolts in forks, undo axle bolt/nut remove wheel and that speedo drive will just come away. easy peasy mate, hour tops even if you've never done it before
