Tyre age concerns

Heyooooo!
I've had my ZXR 400 for about five or six years and only really rode it in the summer. It has been garaged for most of the time but last year I binned it on a roundabout. Not badly, in fact I was doing around 30mph or something and tumbled off leaving the roundabout. I think I was just rusty at riding and ham fisted on the throttle. After checking it over that nothing had come loose etc I kept on riding it for the summer but was a bit humbled by the whole thing as I must have looked a 24ct cock.
When I thought about it, the tyres have never been changed since I bought it so are AT LEAST 5-6 years old. They look in good nick, plenty of tread and no cracks or perishing so I'm not sure if I'm being paranoid or a moron for not changing them. I can't quite remember the make off the top of my head but I think they're dunlops.
Thoughts?

If the tires are that old, they are rock hard. Replace them, that's a cheap health insurance and it's way more fun with good tires. Go for Metzeler M7 rr's.
