General Road pressures

Hay Guys

ive curently got a pirelli dragon on the front, and a (very crap) prosport rear. what are the ussual pressures for road use, or on road tyres?

oh, and is the dragon rear any good? the front lasted for ages and gave great feedback...

Thats quite hard. How do pressures affect grip, tyre wear etc?

I have Dragons and they seem ok to me, not had any problems. I run them 32 front, 36 back. Wouldn't recommend two different types of tyre tho, check out this post;

I run 36 Front 36 Rear at the moment on Pirelli Diablo's on my ZRX1100

I run 30 Front 30 Rear on my ZXR400L track bike Using Bridgestone 090's

The main thing is to have tyre pressures slightly higher the warmer the weather - so it depends what the temperature's like.

The one thing I have found is that I need an excellent pressure guage, as the readings can differ enormously between different guages!!! (I have stopped using petrol station guages at all!!!)

It's worth spending a few extra quid to get a better guague and a foot pump.

Really it's down to what you feel better with. I like the tyres I use - but everyone has their favourites. Try altering the pressures slightly and see what is best for you.

Also - If you carry a pillion, make sure you back tyre pressure is pumped up a few psi.

The bottom line is that you need to put heat into the tyres to make them stick. The more "sticky" the compound the less time the tyre takes to get to optimum heat, but the faster the tyre wear.

If you can't get the tyre up to heat - then the tyre isn't working as well as it could for you.

My god.... there is so much to say about pressures that I am gonna stop here before I write an essay!!!!

which doesn't really say anything to justify not mixing tyres.

Ive got bridgestone battlax bt57s i run them at 32psi front and 34psi back! i need a new set though!!! prob get pirelli dragons or bt090s

Just came on for some advice on this coz i'm riding my zxr through the winter this year for the first time - do i alter pressures for wet & cold conditions - higher in warm = lower in cold???

oh & my front brake was squeeking today - didn't feel any different to yesterday but it squeeked every time i used it - why??
