front end knock

Post by Gemini »

hi guys

basically theres a weird noise coming from front of bike

like a hollow knocking noise. cant heard or feel it thru bars at speed but upto about 50mph i can

forks are fine, headstock fine

no movement when you shake forks

only thing i can think is wheel bearing or it occured to me today that maybe speedo drive needs greasing???

discs are new so not warped and the noise does not appear when front wheel in the air and wheel spun

so its got something to do with the weight of the bike on front wheel

any ideas?

I had a motorcross bike that did that, turned out the bush in the forks was worn and allowed the fork to move slightly. I cant remember the exact name but it was the bush that sits on the stantion inside the fork and runs on the inside of the leg. It only happened on one and was the side that the bike was always leant on.

i forgot to mention that it dont make this knocking noise when at standstill and simply pushing down on forks

so im kinda doubting the fork bush scenario but thanks for advice
