Sprocket Carrier

Post by rajrakhiria »

2000 400 L9 passed MOT yesterday, so in reality it's good for another 12 months!
However I have had some advisories! (Whatever did we do when we never had them)!

Anyway the moral of the story is this (as per MOT certificate);

• drive train slightly tight
• drive chain sprocket carrier worn but not considered excessive
• rear shock absorber has a slightly reduced damping effect

My question where I can purchase the rear shock from other the my main dealer (Cradley Kwak)?!?
Cradley are great, but reckon its going to cost ££££! Not keen on a second hand from breaker.

Additionally any local reputable mechanics, in west north midlands (West Bromwich etc)?

Thanking you in advance.

Slacken off your chain a bit, sit on the bike and check if it is still slack.
Also, check for tight spots, spin the back wheel and see if the chain moves up and down.

Sprocket carrier?
The hub that the rear sprocket bolts onto?

A new shock will cost around 200-1000 squiddies depending on what adjustment you want.
A used zxr shock from an L9 should be in decent condition and will last a fair while.
But there is no bling in a stock zxr shock, a race shock will improve the handling so drastically that you will have a little sex wee everytime you jump on the bike :D

Nitron are awesome but pricey, i have the ZXR400L NTR Race Shock 3-Way one which I love.

Maxton are awesome but pricey, my mate uses maxton kit on the sidecars he builds & races in the IOMTT. He wont use anything else.

Penske are orgasmic but you will have to re-mortgage your house to pay for it.

Hagon are the cheap end of the scale, and are a bit naff in my opinion.

Sprocket Carrier only explanation I can give is its the Khush Drive. Cradley have quoted £38 part only.

The shocker is the shocker! £573! Genuine part only.

So I'm going to see if I can source one from your links/or buy after-market/second hand from eBay!

The L9 is a true pleasure to ride, hope I can justify fitting a new rear shock to a 13 year old bike!

Should you come up with any other suggestions, give me a shout by email:-

Thank you, I owe you a drink!

When are the ride-outs?!?
