Dust seals

Post by U_h0rnet5 »

Hey just after a quick answer, I am going to be doing my brake seals again but these ones are just for my race bike. Do you have to have the top dust seal in or can you do without them (as they normally end up almost coming out anyway)?

Thanks
Ciaran

aye mate.
you dont need them in, but they do require a bit more cleaning than usual. I ran without them last year, no probs.. but i did'nt notice any difference to braking performance tbh, so with the last rebuild i put both seals in.

Clever I might just do that then, give me something to do on my days off now lol. Do you find that they leak at all or are they generally alright?

Nah mate, aslong as your main seals are good, they wont leak with out dust seals in.
The seals may wear or get damaged by dust and shite getting in because lack of dust seals tho! Im not sure if its worth not having them in? i did'nt notice any difference tbh.
