superdream cb400n

Post by parby81 »

how easy is it to fit other calipers to older bikes? I have aquired a cb400n with no calipers and being a 1981 bike they are a bit thin on the ground now. Does anyone know of any other calipers that would fit or how i can go about finding a set that i would be able to adapt to fit?

A lot of the older calipers sit on carrier plates rather than bolt directly onto the forks, these are listed as fitting:

You need to measure the centre to centre of the mounting bolts to fork - this is the pitch so on a ZXR they are 62mm , some bikes are 55mm others 90mm etc......

Once you now that size you can then search, your difficulty will be the offset and angle of caliper on the disc. Best case is you need to add spacers to get the correct postion , worse case your removing material from caliper or fork leg !

If you have access to a breaker go along with your front end if you can and rumage about till you find something that fits then post up letting everyone else know :smt004

They are still a cult bike here and OEM parts are about plus aftermarket , I am helping a lad in India restore his one and he put me onto this company who make race parts for them !!

I should have a few other links in emails somewhere.
