TBH dude,

If you had looked in the "Brake" section you would have seen the couple i have highlighted.

Green = this thread
red = thread about different calipers (i think the title gives it away)

And why are you upgrading your calipers anyway? Are you racing the bike?

The OEM calipers are good with good feel, if yours are crap then they need a service, new seals etc. Also, have you upgraded the brake lines to braided, changed the brake fluid, replaced the M/C piston with new? What pads and discs are you running, are they in good order?

Because TBH I'm running OEM calipers (rebuilt) with a rebuilt M/C, OEM pads and discs, and I can stand my ZXR on its front wheel with the pressure of two fingers so f*ck knows why anyone wants to 'upgrade' the brakes this side of a racetrack other than for penis-waving rights down the local bike meet :smt017

I've just bought the bike and it has tokico calipers on it which i hate, i know the need a service but seems a waste putting stock calipers back on when it has upgraded lines and master cylinder...

only other thing with the bike is the friking clutch ! ahaa

Tokico calipers are OEM. I still don't understand why you feel it to be 'a waste' to put these back on once rebuilt. What are you hoping to achieve by replacing them, given that you already have braided lines and a rebuilt M/C? As I posted above, the OEM set-up in good order will stand the bike on its front wheel with modest finger pressure, you're not going to gain anything on such a light bike by fitting 6-pots.

6-pots are a PITA to bleed, in many cases give poor feel, and you will bugger up the hydraulic ratio with the OEM M/C, so you'll have to replace that as well with one appropriate to the calipers. In many cases fitting brakes which are way too powerful for a bike results in the brakes being worse than before, in that they simply become like an on / off switch with no progressive application in between.

The only thing wrong with Tokico calipers is that they have a tendency to sticky pistons if the seals are shagged, and the seals get shagged very easily if the bike is ridden year round due to salt attack. Apart from that they ain't broke so why fix them?

Tokico calipers seal set £130
Nissin caliper seal set £70
Set of Nisin calipers £80 2nd hand

So after the second change of seals, your ahead with the Nissins.
