Front end judder when braking?

Post by Kawasaki23 »

Hi,

Bought an L9 2002 on Saturday, Loving the bike however when braking there is a judder coming from the front end, just wondered if anyone has had this problem before or knows what the problem could be?

Thanks

I have the very same problem, I suspect warped disks.

The judder rate, is it proportionate to your speed?

If it is, its your discs. If it isn't there are more cumbersome areas to check. Lets start with the discs shall we?

can be head bearings too.

Hey I've had the problem as well. ( all fixed now)

Discs, brakes as Callipers are unlikely as its only harder braking... Plus to worp discs must be hammering the bike,

Anyway check your tyre pressure, easy thing to miss.

Cause; front end bottoming out on hard braking,
Solution; I solved my judder by hardening the front end compression, stock setting was to soft, adjust the 22mm nut in the top of the fork, wind it down by 1 line ride it and see, if it doesn't help go another line.
Can use a cable tie on te fork to measure how much it's compressing.

Also make note of the current setting , line it's currently on before adjusting. Mine was on 5, set to 3 now.
Failing this, check last time damper fluid was changed?

^ more terminlogy than anything, but what you are doing is increasing the preload...not compression damping.
