Alternative pad pin

Post by Mori Man »

I am sure plenty of you have had the joy of trying to get the original steel pad pin out of the calliper body - thankfully they don't salt the roads here so I have been fortunate that they only needed some penetrating oil to shift.

Stainless steel pins have been available for some time but while buying pins for a set of Brembo's I discovered you could also get them with Gold nitrate coating :smt016

So a set was ordered :smt003

The company who make them have also drilled them so they can be lock wired so ideal for race bikes too - they make them for nearly all kinds of callipers :smt004

Going to order up new retainer springs now as they are letting down the side :smt002

Understatement!!

I'm running K2 GSXR 750 calipers up front, so I can source Ti Pins through ProBolt.
Haven't found anything for the standard ZXR rear caliper, but I'm still looking.

I've drilled through the back of my rear caliper to knock the pins out, so will measure and post dimensions once its sorted.
