1993 L model Brake rebuild help

Post by SeattleZXR »

I looked through the FAQ and it seems like the links are to old to find what I'm looking for.
I bought the bike recently and it has been sitting for a long time. I'd like to replace the brake lines with braided lines, put in new brake pads, rebuild both front calipers and the rear caliper and rebuild the master cylinders.

Does anybody have the parts numbers for the rebuild parts for the calipers and master cylinders?
Does anybody know of a place that supplies replacement brake lines that are braided?

www.kawasakioriginalparts.com.

Sells everything for every bike Kawasaki have ever made. That's a good place to start.

As for braided lines, there's loads for sale on eBay or a 2 second Google search "Zxr 400 l braided lines" yielded good results....

Thanks for the quick reply. I live in the states and googling stuff for this bike yields almost nothing. The prices from the UK dealerships are very expensive and it doesn't seem the part numbers cross over to the states. I'll keep digging

these are what you need, i used these on my bike and the seals are fine, no leaks and perform well.

you will also need red rubber grease to grease the seals and pistons with during the rebuild, and a plastic wire wheel for a dremmel makes cleaning out the seal grooves really easy (they will be full of crap).

you might want to go the whole hog and paint the callipers at the same time, its a lot easier when they are disassembled.

HEL are decent brake lines.

As for the seals, get them direct from kawasaki.
