Strange mark on disc

Give em a few more miles mate, new pads take a couple of hundred miles to 'bed in' if you like, mine were toad when i first fitted them but are now just as good as before. I think its safe to say the disk isnt the best if its rippled (my rear disk is rippled like a pleasuremax condom) so is probably just a case of waiting for the pads to wear in.

discs are fine, its the rest of the brakes that you need to worry about!

to conclude, on inspection of what was going on with my discs it was blindingly obvious that at best only 2/3 pistons in the calipers were working!!

were decided to open up the calipers and rebuild. changed seals that had been wrecked with corrosion at a cost of £35 for 8 seals!!! :smt013

gave em a good clean, one piston seized itself solid and after brute force and compressed air failed! we decided to rebuild and hope that seized piston would free itself when system pressure pushed it.

thankfully the rebuild went well and the moody piston seems to have fixed itself. now all pistons are moving and the pad is now being pushed square and evenly into the disc, hence no strange marks

my advice is to regularly clean your brakes out especially if the bike is not being used for a while

its one of them jobs that you SHOULD do alot just you can never be arsed!

i need to stick some new pads in my front as there basicly on the metal now so i might give them a quick go over with brake cleaner then

I give the calipers a clean every few months, rather than having to fully strip them.

It's easy with the 2-piston ones on the VFR though!

I just G-clamp them in turn, push them both back, keep one clamped and pump the other out and clean, then swap and repeat until they both go back in by hand!

it also improves your braking loads keeping them clean and well bleed, havent done mine yet this year might be a job for the weekend
