Caliper and disc problem
I am building a bit of a special and I have a disc caliper mismatch.
I currently have a set of ZXR400H discs mated to a set of ZXR400L calipers.
The H discs are 300mm, however, the L calipers are intended for 310mm discs.
Therefore, does anyone know what other Kawasaki models other than the ZXR400 use 310mm discs that would fit, or, what other Kawasaki Models use calipers that were intended for 300mm discs that will also fit.
I am willing to swap/trade if anyone is interested, I also have a brand new set of EBC FA158HH brake pads too, still unopened.
heres the bike;

I do believe the ZZR1100 used the same caliper, as did the RGV250. What size disks they are intended for i dont know...

Re: Caliper and disc problem
I was researching this the other day cos i've got a set of zzr1100 calipers lying around.RobB wrote:I do believe the ZZR1100 used the same caliper, as did the RGV250. What size disks they are intended for i dont know...
ZZR1100 D's use four pot tokicos. They aren't quite the same as L-Model calipers, and look like they take bigger pads, which led me to wonder whether they might be the same as H model ones. I haven't been able to prove this. Anyone got an H model in the nottingham area?
Also I had a look at a load of aftermarket caliper suppliers, who sell the same caliper as a replacement for those on the zzr and both model zxrs. Suggests they are all interchangeable.
I can measure the diameter of a zzr1100 front disc at some point.
I'd also wonder whether it makes a difference as the disc size is presumably allowed for by where the mounting points are on the forks. There's certainly plenty of cases on this forum of people using H model calipers on L model discs. don't remember reading anyone doing the opposite

Re: Caliper and disc problem
some people swap the l model calipers to the H model calipers as they take a larger pad size, obviously giving you a bit more friction. I thought the disk sizes were the same on the L and H model tho.

Ok, I therefore need a set of 310mm discs, has anyone have any for sale, or would like to swap for a set of 300mm items?

Re: Caliper and disc problem
I started with a KR1. I like the KR1 because parrallel twins sound nice and I like the power characteristics of the Kawasaki.
I thought the whole bike looked a bit square and old, so I thought I would make it look nicer.
ZXR400 forks, because they are USD, RGV swingarm because its braced, RS250 bodywork because it looks nicer than the KR1. What I ended up with is a bike that is entirely of my own design.
Don't you just want to be creative sometimes and ride a bike that is different and stand out from the croud?
Besides, I wanted to look good whilst humiliating Gixers, R1's and Fireblades on Track days
