Brake disc rust

Post by U4RIA-ZXR »

Hi my bike has developed some rust on the brake discs at the front, and I was wondering what the easiest / best solutions were for removing said rust and prevention (or delaying at least!) of it happening again?
Thanks for your help!

Q: How do I get rid of rust on brake discs

A: Ride it!

Q: How do I stop brake discs rusting in the first place

A: Ride it more often!

Unless they are really bad then they will polish up pretty quickly with a bit of hard braking. There's not really anything you can do to stop rusting other than keep using it.

get some wire wool on them. as deviant said you're not riding it enough.

Mine get so bad the pads stick to them, but then its a good couple of weeks between using mine. As said, all you can do is ride it.

what disks have you got onit? standard should be stainless steal thus wont rust, iron disks will rust if you look at them but as said as soon as you ride the bike it will clear very quickly

i have EBC prolite discs on my ZXR400 and if you even think about leaving it for a few wet days thats it the brakes are stuck oand it takes a good push to release them. having said that though it takes no time to clear them up when ridding and also the imperfections caused by the rust kames them realy efective at stopping
