gsxr shock in a h1?

Post by Carter »

apparently it's possible as a few come up in a search but is it straight forward? no one has said how they've gone about it. got a spare k4 600 shock that I'm going to sling on.....anyone got any words of wisdom?

just check all the hole diameters and fittings are the same dimensions and the shock is pretty much the same length, doesn't have to be exact as there is adjustment in them, i've got a 2005 R1 shock in my 1987 gsxr11 all i needed to do was shave a couple of mm of the top bush and bottom eye.works grand!
Don't forget people there is more to the zxr400 than this forum... check out www.zxrworld.co.uk also.

i beleive you can mate. Its the one with the piggyback? you have to cut away the brace on the subframe, and may have to sort the battery out a bit.

tis indeed. was going to cut the flap of plastic out just in front of the battery but wasn't sure about the brace below the battery.... that the one you're on about?

well it's in....bit of a ball ache. didn't have to cut the brace on the sud frame as it's got a good 5mm clearance. need to sort the battery out now as i had to cut the tray in half. think i'll get away with a shorter one and jacking it up with a block under it.

hadn't until now, already ordered a battery from good old Ebay & made a tray up ready though! bit ott for the track bike to me thinks! snazzy bit of kit though.

Hi

Does the K6 the same size as the K4 shock as I have been given one and I dont have an zxr 400 shock to measure it against.I also have a H1, but it is in bits at the mo and looking turning in to a track bikeover the next 18 months.

Cheers

I have had a good search and found the shock to be around 10mm different in lengh, if this is the case what difference will that make to the bike apart from adjusting the ride height...?

trev, it's no problem at all k1 through to k7 are near on the same, if you use the zxr ride hight adjuster on ya standard shock (needs opening out a bit) just drop it down 10mm if you want the same height, tis all i did.
