Head race bearings

Post by jonb_5 »

Hi

I have taken the yokes off the bike but when you buy a new set you get the upper and lower bearings but also the seats which go in the frame tube.

The question is how do i get the old ones out?

Thanks

Jon

Using a drift, hit them hard-ish from the opposite side of the way u want them to come out,

to get the top ones out, hit them from the bottom, and vice-versa.

I like to use an old socket that fits nice on the new bearings as a drift to get the new ones in.
I use a big spanner that just fits over the stem to push down the new bottom bearing. patience is the key.
worth putting the cups in the freezer night before too
