Has anyone managed to relocate there fuse box and control unit to another part of the bike??

My other half has a ZXR L9 and as she is only a wee lass im stuck with the problem of trying to make the bike easier to ride for her.. oh an so she can touch the floor properly.

I have noticed that the seat on hers sits pretty high on the support arms of the rear sub frame and i was going to chop some of the plastic away so the seat drops by about 5mm (not alot but evey little helps and all that) and if i add that to the foam im cutting out the seat it may just be enough.

Doing this creates a problem tho, as the fuse box sits directly on top of the batt if i cut away any of the small feet at the front of the seat plastic then the seat will rest on top of the fuse box and squish it.

Im hoping to get enough free play in the main wiring loom to relocate it to either the side of the rear sub frame (still protected by the fairing panels) or under the rear seat.. but i don’t think ill get that much slack.

I did wonder if anyone made a extension cable for race use etc that would allow me the extra cable i need but so far ive not been able to find anything.

Any suggestions???

I think i recall seeing a lowering kit on ebay for the ZXR. Involved changing the linkages to make the rear lower.

That aside, have you dropped the ride height?

What your planning there sounds like alot of effort to me for just 5mm.

You absolutely right.. it is a lot of work for a small amount of hight loss but i would rather lower it in ways that don’t cause the upset of the handling and reduce the ground clearance as lowering kits do... (so im told)

My wife has no problem reaching the ground on my ZXR........and she is really tiny

I'd be careful about cutting the plastic feet where they fit into the subframe could be that you'll end up with a seat that is wobbley. ? ?

Cheers Cargo, im going to keep the feet guides that stop the seat sliding about as they are but grind away the actual stopper next to it.. a picture would possibly make more sense so ill see what i can do
