starting problems

starting problems
hi im new to this site. im restoring a zxr 400 h1 model the bike has had nearly all new parts put on it. it was a non runner when i bought it but once the carbs had a clean she was up and running. now for the problem. the bike was turning over perfect and starting til a friend had a hoak about. the start button does nothing at all. ive found a black and yellow wire lying lose but cant figure out were it is off. i know this is the problem and would be fixed if i knew were the wire went. the bike has had new battery, relays, starter gear swtich so i know its none of these any help would be great

Black/Yellow = Earth
Possibly Should be connected to Battery -ve ?
Where about's is the end off the wire in relation to the bike.

If its got a ring connector on the end, it will go either on top of the engine above the gear box where a bolt clamps it down, or, it goes just in front of the rear shock mount and again is bolted down.
