...is not an easy job to get the carbon brushes back in without damage to them or the copper wires...

Just showing off here biggrin Not only did I manage to dissassemble one but I managed to grind the brushes from an old starter motor I had lying around to fit in the retain slots, modded the springs and it worked perfectly.

what a smug twat eh? Although I did sell the bike and it could have stopped working the day after.
