So as above.... headlights are off when starting (usually on with the ignition).
If i hit the flash/pass button on low beam, they just flash. If I flash while on high beam they stay on and I can then go down and select low beam and they stay on.
Is this right? I've always thought they were permanently on....
I've recently done a lot of re wiring but the only wire i have removed was a yellow wire that someone had bodged into the the 3 wires coming from the alternator going to the RR.
I guess it actually helps conserve battery etc as they aren't on now when starting!

you should have a RHS switch for lights off-"sidelights"-dipped beam
you should have a LHS switch for selecting dipped or main beam, and a trigger for flash.

Absolutely correct Banner!! Second one if these I've owned and I've never spotted that before!
Mine however is seized solid! Previous owner must have gotten round this with wiring and where I've wired it all back correctly I have obviously disconnected it.
Hopefully WD40 will unstuck it. I don't need it but now I know it's there, it will bug me!
Cheers mate.

Turns out my old one definitely doesn't have that switch! (my work colleague/friend now owns her so had a quick nose earlier).
However my old one was an import, so I assume that's the reason why!
WD40 did not work! Oh welllllll....

Hi mate,
Switchgear is pretty cheap on eBay, so i'd just plug and play a new set:

Re: No headlights....until I flash them?
Most imports don't have sidelights so that's why the lights are always on for them, they can only go dipped or full beam.
