1988 zx400G wiring loom

Post by robzx »

Can any of you fine gentlemen give me any info or diagrams for the above bike as I have acquired one as a project and the previous owner has created a bit of a mess with it, and I would like to be able to sort something out with it. Any info greatly appreciated

sorry i only have the microfiche so i know the part number for the mail loom but thats not much help.

what it is that your loom wont do, i dont know of anyone having a picture of the loom internals, but it wont be that different from H models in where the wiring connects the various subcomponents.

ive got all the gear in my garage to help you repair a loom if its in a salvageable condition by the way...i made my fzr1000 fully modified loom by hand :D

Hi banner,

There's a few issues with the loom as i seem to think it is missing connectors and the lights are all wired up a different way, I was wondering if there was a coloured diagram somewhere cause I'd have done the same and made one :) I might get some photos up and see what you reckon.. I've been watching that one on eBay.. A bit reluctant to buy one tho.. When I could retire one myself

most of the connector blocks are OEM specific, ive tried to find them and just cant, maybe if i give exact sizes to moriman he can find some over in japan...

feel free to post results, what it is exactly thats not working?

as for headlights, when people convert them from imports to UK spec (or go racing and then revert) the looms always get messed up, im sure we will be able to fix it as all the electrics for these bikes are pretty similar.

failing that you might be able to convert it to a more modern L speck wiring loom, this will require the loom, fusebox, cdi and a new timing rotor for the crank...not a lot of people have the zx4g anymore, and even fewer people are willing to do any work on them.

I have basically inherited if as a non runner/project and it does need a lot of work.. Bodywork needs replaced so looking for something that would fit it maybe Zxr fairings? , there's problems with wiring as the witing for the lights has been messed with the clocks/speedo has been changed, not sure about the engine as I've only had it a week or so and been working so not much time to mess about with it really..

Sorry I have not been following this post, manuals have been taken down at the moment due to an error with an upgrade to the forum but I will be adding them to the new site I am revamping
if you need anything in the meantime let me know and I will upload them for you.
Don't forget people there is more to the zxr400 than this forum... check out www.zxrworld.co.uk also.
