electrical - side stand switch maybe?

hi all. when i turn the ignition on sometimes the neutral light doesnt come on even when the bike is in neutral. when i pull the clutch in the engine then turns over and the light comes on. any ideas? im thinking the side stand switch covered in crap/corrosion? thanks all. pete

hello mate, could be covered in crap, also, check the bright green wire that goes behind the sprocket cover, it pushes onto a contact and could be covered also causing it to play about with the neutral light.

So give both a clean and see how it goes :smt001

thanks RobB. yeh crawled out of bed and had a go. cant do much atm with a bad back but seems to have sorted the problem for now...... time will tell.

which years of bike have a sidestand switch please?

as far as i'm aware they all have one.
Don't forget people there is more to the zxr400 than this forum... check out www.zxrworld.co.uk also.

If you take em off you can still get the bike to work, i think you just have to join the wires together.

think all kwaks have them - the gpz does, i've heard of them on a zephyr 750, fairly sure the zzr11 I stripped did.
