dodgy rev needle

The rev gauge needle is playin up, sometimes its fine but sometimes it is like saying 6rpm when its realy 3 rpm??? :smt017

Thats a knackered battery mate. Its come up a few times now. :smt001

id also check your regulator while your at it. Best way is just stick a multi metter over the positive and negitve on the battary. If you get more than 16v odd then you need to change your regulator

ok will the battery need replacing or just charing>?
Also had another prob, it wouldnt start up, made a funny buzzing noise and when i bump, it just missfires and doent wnt to run???

sounds like your battery is shorting, you will need to replace it. just check the earth from the battery is not corroded, take it off and clean it up with some emery cloth.

nah anything that'll get rid of the corrosion, wire wool, wire brush etc

hi, there was no corosion, there is a clickng noise coming frm the junction box when i try the starter?

try running some jump leads off a car to your battery and try starting it.

depends, if the battery has died of death due to old age it should fire up ok, if the battery is breaking down and shorting it may cause same symptoms.

sorted, starts fine, ther was fluid around the posative terminal, and it stunk of hydrogen gas every time i tried to start, so it needs a new battery, and my hands sting lol.

check the voltage output of ur regulator with a multimeter,
its in the manual how to do it, as the seal battery of the zxr should never leak unless its blown its top.
