hiya everyone i got a new problem today as well my poor bikes falling apart or so it seems!

basically someone noticed my rear light was working odd i thought as it has been until now, basically the brake light works but not the light? which is odd, checked the fuse that was blow so i replaced it with a new one as soon as the ignition went on it blew the fuse, the bulbs are fine but im stuck for ideas as to why it keeps blowing the fuse?

any help would be much appreciated

p.s until its fixed do you think gaffer taping a rear bicyle light to my seat unit would be legalish as my brake light still works?

just dont ride at night, surpose ul find it hard without a car at the min tho

i was going to edit it to say bikerz but i forgot iw asnt registered so i am now! again a big thanks for spotting it! i probably wouldnt have noticed, well i might have to ride at night so thats why im thinking push bike lights lol prob wack 2 or three on there, should be ok,

lol i do check that everytime i park up its so easy to just put it past the steering lock,

anyone any ideas on my fuse blowing problem? ive traced most of the wiring seems to all be fine, only thing i can thing is the fuse/junction box has gone a bit pear shaped, maybe some water has got in or something but all other fuses are working fine,

what about all that horrible water in ur battery connection when i plud lid off plug?

Sounds like it's shorting out on something.

The good news is that it's one of the easiest things on the electrical circuit to trace!

I think the wires for the rear lights (can't remember which colour) go straight from the fuse/junction box to the bulb, with a connector about halfway along the tail.

Have a good look at all the wiring, as even the tiniest of breaks in the casing can cause it to short - if you find any wrap it in insulating tape and it should be fine. Take the connector apart and put some contact spray in in, and pay close attention to corrosion in the bulb seatings.

As i'm writing this, i'm thinking it's more likely to be a surge from the other side of the junction box but that's gonna take more time and patience to sort out, so try the above first!

the colour for the sidelight is red and the brake light is blue and red, ive traced all the wiring to the junction box and sprayed it all with electrical cleaner but i havent found any exposed cable, the bulb seatings are fine and the bulbs definatly work, i think the problem is soley the junction box and whats causing the fuse to blow straight away, so im think its going to take a little more time to sort out,

my dad and i had the junction box apart to look at the printed circuit board i must admit it looks none to clever, so im thinking possibly get another junction box try that if its not, i might have to start taking the hole loom apart which i really would rather not doing,

it seems odd this problem has just occured, as for the water it was inside my optimate connector thingy which ive tie wrapped onto the grab handles on the underneath of my seat unit so its possibe that water has been forced into the connector and cap rather than coming from anywhere else, which i think it the most likely thing, thats all cleaned out now,

If all else fails you can get a new fuse/junction box from http://www.bartonmotors.co.uk for about £20 + postage.

Or i'll send you my spare for £10+postage cause it'll save me putting it on Ebay!

i was wondering where abouts near brum are you? theres a possiblilty i could collect if that would be ok for you,

i think my best bet is to change the fuse box first as if its not that i can then assume i need to start ripping the loom apart which id rather not do just yet,
