quick release fasteners

Post by ross46 »

Has anyone on here installed quick release fasteners on the zxr? I'm buying a single seat tail unit but would like to use quick release fasteners to speed up change if I need to take someone on the back

Yeah I found them, they're the ones I was looking at, was more looking for how to fit them to the rear as its into the metal of the frame, as the panels are mounted using the m6 inserts so im not sure how they would fit? Any information would be greatly appreciated

you might have to drill out the old ones and then find a dzuz-style pop-rivet that you can use...or you might find a quick release that screws into the M6 hole, a bit of strong threadlock and it wont be going anywhere.

Normally Dzus type fasteners are use to hold two flat panels together............like fairings.

I have also just once seen a well nut type female Dzus type fitting. It was on a race bike 600 I still have...............but I've never seen them for sale. They were NOT a satisfactory job on that bike and I ended up just using a cable tie. To be honest I wouldn't recommend them for road use unless you get the length and spring tension just right they will either be loose and fall out or tight and damage the fairing/paintwork. When I'm racing I cover each one with gaffer tape or cable tie them to each other in the case of D ring ones.

Are these what they looked like on your bike cargo? The threaded inserts can be removed from the frame and hopefully these put in its place
